Usyk’s Appointment and His Plans for the Club

A contract was signed between the president of FC Polissya, Hennadiy Butkevych, and Oleksandr Usyk. According to the agreement, Usyk will focus his efforts on reforming refereeing in Ukrainian football. He emphasized that the main goal is to ensure transparency and fairness in the game.

“We want to change the rotten system and build a true sport,” Usyk commented on his appointment.

The newly appointed leader also expressed his desire to elevate the team to a qualitatively new level, emphasizing the club’s participation in prestigious European tournaments. Usyk shared an ambitious goal: “Polissya will play in the Champions League.”

In his Instagram, Usyk highlighted that the position of first vice president allows him to influence the development of Ukrainian sports and contribute to its further growth. He stressed that referee reform will be one of the first areas of his work, as transparency and honesty are what every true fan desires.

Usyk’s Career at FC Polissya

Oleksandr Usyk has experience playing for Polissya as a forward wearing number 17. The official agreement for his participation in the team was signed back in 2013. The world champion in the WBA, WBC, and IBF recently participated in a friendly match against the Canadian club Vancouver Whitecaps.

Additionally, Usyk expressed dissatisfaction with the refereeing decisions during the match of the 19th round of the Ukrainian Premier League between Polissya and Kyiv’s Dynamo, which took place on March 8 in Zhytomyr. This situation became an additional incentive for his active work on reforming refereeing in football.

Interestingly, Oleksandr Usyk recently received a unique gift — a saber made from a fragment of an enemy missile and part of a Russian FPV drone. This symbolic trophy was crafted by a blacksmith from the Chernihiv region.
