The Ukrainian berry company ‘Berry Hub Plus’, operating in the Zhytomyr region, has announced the signing of an agreement with an international agency that specializes in attracting seasonal workers from Asian countries — specifically, Nepal, Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan. This step is aimed at overcoming the labor shortage that has significantly deepened this year.

Labor Crisis in the Berry Sector
The company emphasizes that attracting foreign workers is intended to ensure a stable harvest of blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries grown in the fields of Zhytomyr. Producers are facing a problem where, despite a relatively competitive wage level — currently, the price for harvested berries in Ukraine is only 15% lower than in Poland — Ukrainians are increasingly opting for seasonal work abroad.
‘Berry Hub Plus’, in light of the labor shortage, has signed an agreement with a firm that will attract seasonal workers from Nepal, Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan. The company hopes this will help overcome the labor crisis and ensure uninterrupted harvesting.
Wages: Poland and Ukraine
According to analytics from the international company Gremi Personal, from January to September 2025, the average salary in Poland’s business sector increased by 8.2% compared to last year, reaching 8,750 zlotys (2,389 dollars) in September. This figure is nearly three times higher than the average salary in Ukraine, which is about 26,500 hryvnias (630 dollars) per month. Despite this, Ukrainian workers continue to seek jobs abroad, exacerbating the labor shortage in agricultural enterprises.
