Greater Choice for Patients and New Areas of Assistance
The program update includes not only the addition of new active substances but also an expansion of the list of trade names for existing drugs. This aims to provide patients with a wider selection of treatment options and enhance the effectiveness of therapy across various fields of medicine.
Particular attention has been given to combating cardiovascular diseases: the program now includes drugs such as Telpress Plus, Indap, Thiurex, Veroshpiron, Toradiv, and Acekor Cardio. For the treatment of infectious diseases in children, the list has been supplemented with Ospamox, Trikaside, Uniflox, and Cipronex. Mental health also remains a focus — Escitalopram Teva, Asitalox, and Quetiron have been added.
Patients with chronic and rare diseases will be able to benefit from new medications: Levenium (epilepsy), Levo-com retard Asino (Parkinson’s disease), Metafora®-SR (diabetes), and Ventolin Evohaler (respiratory diseases).
Expansion for Specialized Treatment and Updated Registry
The program has also covered new areas of specialized assistance, including medications for the treatment of glaucoma (Prolatan, Unilat), migraine (Migrenet), folic acid for pregnant women, and agents for breast tumor therapy — Aralet and Exzemarin.
“The Ministry of Health emphasizes that these changes will allow patients to receive more comprehensive treatment within the state program.”
The updated registry of the Affordable Medicines program now includes 748 items, among which are 621 medicinal products across various fields, 59 insulin preparations, 32 combined medications, and 36 types of test strips for glucometers. The complete list of reimbursable medications can be viewed on the official website of the National Health Service of Ukraine.
Thus, the Affordable Medicines program continues to expand, providing even more Ukrainians with quality and accessible medical care, even in the challenging conditions of wartime.
