Metinvest Increases Steel Production Despite Challenges

The Metinvest group increased its steel production by 4% in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period last year, reaching a volume of 488,000 tons. Pig iron production during this time rose by 8%. Despite the challenges of wartime and the shutdown of the Pokrovsk Coal Group, the company continues to expand its capacities.

At the same time, coal concentrate production experienced a significant decline, decreasing by 52%. This is due to the fact that since the beginning of 2025, the company has started to mine coal exclusively at the United Coal Company in the USA. There is also a 21% decrease in ore extraction. However, the overall production volume of rolled products increased by 41%, reaching 597,000 tons.

Additionally, Metinvest paid ₴20 billion in taxes to the budget in 2024, which is 36% more than in 2023. Since the beginning of the war on February 24, 2022, the company, including joint ventures, has invested over ₴30 billion in capital investments in Ukraine, making it the second highest in the country.
