Luxembourg to Allocate €10 Million for Supporting Ukraine’s Energy Sector

The government of Luxembourg plans to allocate €10 million in 2025 for the Fund to Support Ukraine’s Energy Sector. These funds will be used for the purchase of necessary equipment and fuel, as well as for the modernization of the country’s energy infrastructure.

This was announced by Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sybiha during a joint briefing with foreign officials. He met in Kyiv with the Luxembourg Minister of Foreign Affairs Xavier Bettel and the Minister of Defense Yuriko Backes.

The Importance of Financial Support

Sybiha noted that Luxembourg’s decision to allocate funds to the Energy Fund is a significant practical outcome of bilateral negotiations. The minister mentioned that issues related to strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities and investments in Ukrainian weapons production were also discussed during the meeting. He emphasized that military assistance from Luxembourg has already exceeded €250 million.

Sanctions and Integration into the EU

On the agenda of the meeting were issues related to strengthening sanctions against Russia, using frozen assets of the Russian Federation to support Ukraine, as well as further integration of our country into the European Union and NATO. Sybiha also suggested to Luxembourg, whose agency LuxDev is already implementing 40 infrastructure restoration projects in Kryvyi Rih in Dnipropetrovsk region, to expand its programs to other areas, including Kharkiv region.

Additionally, the Luxembourg Minister of Foreign Affairs Xavier Bettel announced the allocation of €1 million for the Olena Zelenska Foundation, designated for funding psychological support for youth.
