She emphasized that the conditions for independent creativity in the U.S. are unacceptable, particularly for artists who seek to realize their original projects.
“I can’t work freely there. But I don’t want to give up completely. I would like to make films in Europe and then shove them down the throats of the American people,” the actress shared.
Stewart’s directorial debut titled “The Chronology of Water” has already been realized in Latvia. She explained that filming this movie in the U.S. was impossible due to overly strict restrictions for independent cinema and emerging directors.
