How Gas Prices Changed for Ukrainians
According to the “GasPrada” portal, in July the monthly gas price for residential consumers ranges from 8.46 to 30.55 hryvnias per cubic meter. Compared to June, the maximum price increased by nearly 5 hryvnias. However, annual base tariffs remained stable due to the moratorium — they are within the range of 7.79–9.99 hryvnias per cubic meter.
Currently, nine gas suppliers are operating in the market, of which five companies offer consumers both annual and monthly tariff plans. However, over 98% of residential customers — more than 12 million Ukrainian households — are served by the company “Naftogaz of Ukraine.”
“Naftogaz of Ukraine” has set a tariff at 7.96 UAH per cubic meter, so for most consumers, the gas price will remain unchanged despite the increase in monthly tariffs.
Price Dynamics and Market Trends
On June 18, the price of gas in the Ukrainian market surged — exceeding 31,550 hryvnias per thousand cubic meters. Some sellers offered “blue fuel” at 32,000 hryvnias and more per thousand cubic meters. Since the beginning of June, gas prices have risen by 26%, and since early May, the increase has reached 60%.
Despite the record jump in monthly market value, the majority of Ukrainian consumers will remain on annual tariffs, which are kept at a significantly lower level due to state policy and the dominant role of “Naftogaz” in the market.
