A new free mobile app, Proskills, has been launched in Ukraine, developed by the educational foundation GoGlobal with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. This tool allows Ukrainians to learn specialized professional English for free, which is particularly relevant for those looking to enhance their qualifications and master modern workplace terminology.

Main Features and Availability of the Proskills App
Although the project is primarily aimed at college students and vocational education institutions, the developers emphasize that the app is open to anyone interested. Anyone wishing to master professional English can download Proskills to their smartphone. The app is already available on the App Store for iOS users and on Google Play for Android device owners.
Fields Covered by the Proskills Curriculum
The Proskills curriculum covers four key sectors of the Ukrainian economy:
- Hospitality and Restaurant Business (HoReCa): terminology for administrators, bartenders, chefs, and waiters.
- Agriculture: specialized vocabulary for tractor drivers, mechanics, locksmiths, and laboratory technicians.
- Construction: English for electricians, installers, gas welders, and locksmiths.
- Logistics and Transport: training for conductors, drivers of various types of transport, and cashiers.
The developers emphasize the importance of this initiative for Ukrainian businesses, which are actively integrating into international markets and require employees with knowledge of specialized English. This opens up new opportunities for labor migration, professional development, and the competitiveness of Ukrainian specialists.
“The app is completely open. Anyone who wants to enhance their qualifications and learn workplace terminology can use it.”
It is worth noting that in June 2024, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law that establishes the status of English as one of the languages of international communication in Ukraine. The document also defines categories of positions for which knowledge of English at levels A2 to B2 on the CEFR scale is a mandatory requirement. Previously, the government made a decision regarding bonuses for civil servants who are proficient in English.
