Since the beginning of 2026, Ukrainians have already purchased about 1.1 million cubic meters of firewood, which is twice the amount sold during the same period in 2025, when 534 thousand cubic meters were sold.
This is reported by Finway
“Firewood prices for the population will remain stable until the end of the 2026/2027 heating season. The main condition is the absence of sharp fluctuations in prices for fuel and lubricants and logistics.”
Increasing Demand and Wood Stocks
The monthly volume of firewood shipments currently averages 225 thousand cubic meters. Such volumes were previously only observed during peak months of the heating season. According to estimates from the State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine”, firewood consumption in 2026 may exceed a record 3 million cubic meters, while last year 2.45 million cubic meters were sold.
Despite significant demand, no resource shortages are expected. Currently, about 200 thousand cubic meters of firewood are stored in the company’s warehouses. Stocks are carefully monitored in each of the 1340 forestry units in the country. By the end of the year, it is planned to harvest another 2 million cubic meters of wood to meet the needs of the population.
Pricing Policy and Categories of Firewood
The cost of firewood for the population will remain stable until the end of the 2026/2027 heating season, provided there are no sharp changes in the cost of fuel and lubricants and transportation services. Prices depend on the type of wood:
- hardwood Group I — 1400 UAH including VAT per cubic meter;
- Group II (pine, alder) — 1100 UAH;
- Group III firewood (spruce, fir, softwood species) — 950 UAH.
The enterprise actively supplies firewood to budget institutions and the army as well. Since the beginning of the year, 813 contracts have been signed for the supply of 247 thousand cubic meters, of which over 130 thousand have already been delivered to customers.
In addition, the State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” is among the top ten largest employers in the country, providing jobs for more than 22,500 employees.
