On April 30, 2025, the International Football Federation (FIFA) announced a significant update to its NFT platform, FIFA Collect. The organization announced the migration from the Algorand network to a new EVM-compatible blockchain infrastructure named FIFA Blockchain.

In an official statement, FIFA noted that «This update will provide better performance, scalability, and create a foundation for new features and fan interactions».
The NFT Migration Process to the New Platform
The migration process is scheduled for May 20, 2025, and users will be informed in advance about the exact launch date and necessary actions. Changes awaiting users include:
- automatic transfer of existing digital collectibles (NFTs) to the new platform;
- no fees for migration;
- instructions will be sent closer to the start of the process;
- the active status of all NFTs listed for sale will remain unchanged unless the user manually delists them before the migration date.
New Opportunities and Integration
FIFA’s announcement also mentioned that «The new network will allow integration with MetaMask and other EVM wallets via WalletConnect, while support for Algorand wallets, such as Pera and Defly, will be discontinued».
Users who have withdrawn their collectibles from FIFA Collect will need to re-import them by May 20, as after this date, automatic transfers will no longer occur. Import will only be possible through contacting customer support with additional verification.
The federation emphasized that «This is a strategic step towards Web3, allowing FIFA to better control digital content and offer fans a more dynamic experience».
At the same time, during the migration period, the FIFA Collect platform will be temporarily unavailable for approximately 12 hours. Additionally, we remind you that recently the association’s president, Gianni Infantino, spoke about the possibility of creating an official FIFA token.
