The top-ranked player in Ukraine, Elina Svitolina, has reached the semifinals of the prestigious WTA 1000 tournament in Dubai, where the total prize pool exceeds 4 million dollars.

Svitolina’s Thirteenth WTA 1000 Semifinal
In the quarterfinal match of the tournament, seventh-seeded Svitolina, currently ranked ninth in the WTA world rankings, managed to secure victory over Croatian tennis player Antonija Ružič. The Ukrainian lost the first set but managed to turn the match around, winning with a score of 3:6, 6:2, 6:3.

In the tournament semifinals, Elina Svitolina will face the world’s fourth-ranked player, American Coco Gauff. Svitolina’s opponent confidently defeated Alexandra Eala from the Philippines, who is ranked 47th in the world, in her quarterfinal match.
This marks Svitolina’s eleventh appearance at the tournament in Dubai. It is worth noting that the Ukrainian has won this prestigious event twice, in 2017 and 2018. The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships will continue until February 21.
