During the presentation of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) reviews of Ukraine, Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko noted that for effective recovery and development of the economy, the country needs support from the OECD in three strategic areas.

“Currently, Ukraine belongs to the seventh (highest) risk class. We would like to emphasize the necessity of reclassifying the risk group for Ukraine to the sixth class, which would make risk insurance more accessible for us,” Svyrydenko remarked.

Strategic Areas of Support

The second area, according to Svyrydenko, is the development of a national industrial strategy. OECD expertise in industrial policy can be a decisive factor for changes in the Ukrainian market. The third area includes the formation of an effective employment strategy in collaboration with the Ukraine Facility initiative, as well as utilizing OECD expertise.

Prospects for Ukraine

The OECD also presented an economic review of Ukraine, as well as a review on integrity and anti-corruption issues. The organization is confident in Ukraine’s future and its prospects after returning to a just and lasting peace. OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann emphasized that the OECD, together with Ukraine, must create opportunities for further development of the country through reforms and the implementation of best international practices.
