Dollar exchange rate hits historic low: Hryvnia approaches 44 per dollar

The National Bank of Ukraine has set a new official exchange rate for the hryvnia against the US dollar for March 10 – 43 hryvnias 89.61 kopecks per dollar. This marks another record low for the national currency this month.

Hryvnia exchange rate dynamics in 2026

As of the trading results on March 3, the hryvnia updated its historic low for the first time since January 2026, while on March 4 the exchange rate was recorded at 43 hryvnias 45.48 kopecks per dollar. In the following days, the trend of the hryvnia’s weakening continued.

According to Bloomberg, on March 9, trading on the interbank foreign exchange market in Ukraine closed at 43 hryvnias 93 kopecks per dollar. Thus, the dollar exchange rate continues to rise, while the hryvnia gradually loses ground.

History of exchange rate movements in recent years

It is worth noting that on October 3, 2023, the official dollar exchange rate changed for the first time since July 21, 2022. At that time, the hryvnia had been maintained at the level of 36 hryvnias 57 kopecks per dollar for over 14 months. Since then, the national currency has shown a gradual weakening against the US dollar, and the current figures are the lowest for the entire period.
