Contract Details and Technical Specifications
The wind turbines are intended for the construction of a large wind farm with a capacity of 300 MW, which will be located in the Serbian region of Pančevo, Vojvodina. According to industry sources, Dongfang Wind Power conducted extensive site studies, after which it optimized the turbine design, taking into account the specifics of Serbian standards, climate, and grid requirements.
According to the plan, each turbine will have a single capacity of approximately 6.25 MW. Preliminary estimates suggest that the annual electricity production will range from 750 to 774 million kilowatt-hours.
Strategic Role and Further Development of Serbia’s Energy Sector
The main investor and contractor for the project is China Power Construction Group (PowerChina). The new power plant is linked to the Vetrozelena wind farm, which is currently the largest wind energy facility in Serbia under construction.
“Vetrozelena is the largest wind farm under construction in Serbia, while the largest operational wind energy facility in the country is Čibuk 1 with a capacity of 158 MW.”
In comparison, the largest operational wind farm in Serbia remains Čibuk 1 with a capacity of 158 MW. The implementation of the new project will significantly increase the share of renewable energy in the country’s energy balance and enhance the level of energy independence.
