The initiative is shifting to Ukrainian forces

According to the assessment of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) from May 21, Ukrainian units are gradually regaining tactical initiative in certain areas of the front. Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov emphasized during a meeting with journalists that Ukrainian forces have significantly slowed the advance of Russian troops and begun to seize the initiative. Among the key factors, he noted the blocking of the Starlink system for the aggressor and the strengthening of strikes using medium-range drones.

At the same time, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, noted on May 19 that possible offensive operations by Russia through Belarus are real.
