Zelensky announced updates to the leadership of the State Enterprise ‘Forests of Ukraine’

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, together with Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, held discussions on personnel changes in state companies, particularly at the State Enterprise ‘Forests of Ukraine’. According to the head of state, there have been numerous signals recently regarding unresolved critical issues in the forestry sector, as well as concerning the protection of the Carpathians and other important natural areas of the country.

The President emphasized that an agreement was reached with the Prime Minister to review the priorities of state policy in the field of forestry and to implement new approaches to forming the leadership of the relevant structures. It is expected that a number of important decisions regarding the renewal of leadership and the enhancement of the efficiency of the State Enterprise ‘Forests of Ukraine’ will be made in the near future.

“In recent weeks, a lot of information has been received about the unresolved critical problems of the forestry sector and the protection of our Carpathians and other significant natural environments in Ukraine. We agreed with the Prime Minister to review the priorities of the relevant policy and new personnel approaches,” Zelensky noted.

In the context of personnel changes, it is worth noting that the prosecutor’s office in Prykarpattia has filed a lawsuit against the State Enterprise ‘Forests of Ukraine’ for the recovery of nearly 387 million hryvnias due to illegal logging in protected forests. This case once again underscores the importance of strengthening control and a responsible approach to managing the country’s forest resources.
