In Ukraine, repairs to public roads will be completed by June 1

By June 1, 2026, Ukraine plans to complete all ongoing repair work on public roads. The corresponding plan covers a road surface area of 10 million square meters, prioritizing routes with heavy traffic, significant damage, and key logistical importance.

Repair Priorities and Current Work Status

According to Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, the main work on key international highways has already been completed by early May. Special attention is being paid to routes that are important for the country’s defense, evacuation measures, and meeting the needs of communities.

“The expected plan is 10 million m² of road surface. The priority is roads with the highest load, damage, and significance for logistics, defense, evacuation, and community operations. As of early May, the main work on key international routes has already been completed,” Svyrydenko noted.

Focus on Local Roads and Repairs in Frontline Regions

The State Special Transport Service continues to carry out repair work in the 40-kilometer zone near the contact line. Currently, work is ongoing on 59 separate sections, with a total length exceeding 1200 kilometers. In addition, the government is allocating an additional 3.5 billion hryvnias for the restoration and improvement of local roads, which is expected to contribute to infrastructure development and meet the needs of regional communities.
