Ukraine Receives $50 Million and Signs New Agreements to Support the Agricultural Sector

Ukraine is actively developing its agricultural sector thanks to the coordination of state and international efforts and investments. In Kyiv region, the company “Grocery Products Factory” is preparing to launch a new production line for making parboiled buckwheat groats. Its planned capacity will be 30 tons of product per day. To ensure stable operation, a modern boiler house will also be built, which will fully meet the needs of the new production complex for steam.

Investments in the Development of Farms

Today, the enterprise already has the capacity to store up to 600 tons of raw materials simultaneously. The production processes buckwheat and millet, and in the future, they plan to expand the range by adding peas, wheat, and barley. This will allow for increased production volumes and strengthen market positions.

At the same time, Ukraine is attracting significant international support. As part of the World Bank’s ARISE project, the country will receive a grant of $50 million. These funds will be directed towards restoring the agricultural sector and supporting farms. Thanks to these grants, farmers will have the opportunity to develop their own farms, implement innovative technologies, and increase production efficiency.

International Cooperation with Italy

An important step in strengthening the agricultural sector was the signing of two agreements between Ukraine and Italy aimed at supporting farmers in the Odesa region. One of them involves the creation of cooperatives for small and medium-sized farmers, providing modern equipment, machinery, organizing training programs, and consulting support. The financing for this initiative will be provided by the Italian side.

The second agreement concerns the modernization and reconstruction of irrigation systems. In particular, a project worth €6 million is planned, which includes the updating of the Tatarbunary and Kiliya irrigation systems, allowing for increased yield and stability of production in southern Ukraine.

“The first agreement pertains to a project that will help small and medium farmers create cooperatives, obtain modern equipment, machinery, training, and consulting support. The initiative will be funded by Italy.”
