In Ukraine, power will be cut for 6 hours on March 12 due to strikes on the energy system

On March 12, all regions of Ukraine will face hourly power outages for residential consumers, as well as power restrictions for industrial enterprises. These measures will last from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM according to the updated schedules published by “Ukrenergo”.

Reasons for Power Supply Restrictions

The restrictions are being implemented due to the consequences of missile and drone attacks from the Russian Federation, which have significantly damaged the country’s energy infrastructure. In recent months, Ukraine’s energy system has repeatedly suffered massive strikes, leading to the need for new outage schedules to stabilize the operation of the power grid.

“To find out the timing and extent of outages at your address, check the official pages of the regional energy companies in your area. When electricity is available according to the schedule – please use it sparingly”

Recommendations for Consumers and the State of the Energy System

The company emphasizes that the situation in the energy network can change, so it is important to follow operational information. Given the favorable sunny weather, which helps reduce electricity consumption during the day, “Ukrenergo” advises to turn on high-power electrical appliances during daylight hours.

At the same time, First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal reported that after the resumption of regular massive attacks on the energy infrastructure in October 2025, Russia damaged over 9 GW of capacity from thermal power plants, combined heat and power plants, and hydroelectric power stations. This has created additional pressure on the energy system and necessitated the implementation of restrictions for consumers.
