In Ukraine, 12 passenger trains were delayed due to a contact network failure

On the morning of July 7, significant delays occurred on Ukrainian railway routes for passenger trains. In total, the schedule was disrupted for 12 services, including international connections. The incident was caused by a failure of the contact network in the Khmelnytskyi region.

The company “Ukrzaliznytsia” reported that due to the accident, traffic on the double-track section was temporarily conducted on only one track. Restoration work on the damaged infrastructure is currently ongoing. As of 07:00, the following trains were delayed:

  • №144/142 Rakhiv, Ivano-Frankivsk – Sumy, Chernihiv — delay of 1 hour 44 minutes;
  • №22/104 Lviv – Kharkiv, Kramatorsk — 3 hours 16 minutes;
  • №74 Przemyśl – Kharkiv — 2 hours 51 minutes;
  • №81 Kyiv – Chop — 2 hours 20 minutes;
  • №705 Kyiv – Przemyśl — 2 hours 50 minutes;
  • №12 Lviv – Odesa — 2 hours 23 minutes;
  • №11 Odesa – Lviv — 1 hour 46 minutes;
  • №59/57 Kyiv – Uzhhorod, Yasinya — 2 hours 20 minutes;
  • №26/136 Odesa – Yasinya, Chernivtsi — 2 hours 12 minutes;
  • №25/135 Yasinya, Chernivtsi – Odesa — 1 hour 13 minutes;

Situation on the railway and schedule recovery

The railway company emphasized that specialists are working promptly to eliminate the consequences of the accident and are gradually reducing the delays of trains from the schedule. Passengers are asked to remain calm and monitor updates regarding train movements.

“We apologize and are speeding up; trains are already reducing their delays from the schedule,” added Ukrzaliznytsia.
