Advantages of Safe 7: Openness and Security

The Safe 7 wallet stands out among this year’s award winners and utilizes fully open-source software, as well as the TROPIC01 chip with a transparent architecture available for public audit. The device features a touchscreen and lacks physical buttons, adding to its ergonomics and modern appearance. This approach allows users to securely store their crypto assets offline without involving exchanges or intermediaries.

The product was evaluated by a jury of nearly 40 international experts who considered innovation, functionality, ergonomics, and build quality. The official award ceremony will take place in Essen on July 7, 2026.

Availability of Hardware Solutions for All Users

Trezor emphasizes that they aimed to make hardware wallets more intuitive for a wide range of users. One of the main challenges was overcoming the perception barrier, where such devices seem complex or intended only for technical specialists.

“For some people, the first impression of a hardware wallet is that it looks like a device for engineers. This deters them before they even learn what self-custody is,” said Trezor’s hardware division head Adam Budynski.

According to Budynski, the Safe 7 was developed with these challenges in mind, and the victory at Red Dot indicates that the product looks like a familiar part of modern life and is easy to use.

Despite the growing interest in self-custody of cryptocurrencies, currently about 98% of digital asset owners use exchanges and custodial services. Among the main reasons for this situation are the complexity of interfaces, concerns about the security of seed phrases, and the utilitarian design of devices.

Trezor believes that the combination of open-source software and user-friendly, understandable design can change the market situation and accelerate users’ transition to self-management of their assets.
