Increasing Positions and Market Outlook
According to EmberCN analyst, on December 24, 2025, Trend Research expanded its portfolio by 46,379 ETH. LD Capital founder Jack Yi confirmed the intentions to continue investing, stating that the fund is preparing to allocate around $1 billion for further Ethereum purchases. In Yi’s opinion, the current market situation creates unique opportunities for long-term investors. Previously, the fund held a short position on Ethereum, realizing a profit of $24.48 million, but since November 2025, it has changed its strategy and started actively buying the asset.
“I firmly believe that now is the optimal time to buy Ethereum, especially considering the expected major bull market in 2026, when Ethereum may reach the $10,000 mark.”
Overall, the fund’s portfolio currently exceeds 580,000 ETH, which is equivalent to nearly $1.7 billion. The average purchase price of the asset is $3,208, while at the end of December 2025, Ethereum is trading at $2,920, resulting in an unrealized loss for the fund of about $167 million.
Funding Details and Future Plans
Trend Research is utilizing borrowed funds from the Aave protocol, having secured a loan of $887 million. This corresponds to approximately double leverage when making investments. Jack Yi emphasized that Trend Research intends to continue increasing long positions with a cautionary note for other market participants: not to open short positions.
Yi also shared his own experience in the cryptocurrency market, mentioning that he sold his bitcoins before the market crash in March 2020, thereby avoiding significant losses, although he did not buy them back later and missed out on substantial potential profits when the asset price reached $69,000.
It is worth noting that recently one of the largest corporate players, BitMine, also increased its Ethereum portfolio, confirming the growing interest of major investors in this asset.
