A 53-year-old emigrant from Russia, who has been a citizen of France for over ten years, faced the blocking of her bank accounts due to the enforcement of sanctions. The woman appealed to the French authorities, believing she had become a victim of discrimination because of her origin.

Reasons for Account Blocking
According to the woman, the incident occurred in April when an attempt was made to transfer funds through the French bank where she has been a customer for a long time. Despite having worked in France for several years and holding French citizenship, all her accounts were blocked. She recounted that she had previously encountered similar difficulties, having to approach the bank manager to unblock her accounts after receiving her salary. However, over time the situation normalized, but recently the rules have become stricter again.
«I will sue for discrimination. I just left the bank and found out that all my accounts have been blocked. No one can pay me because I was born in Russia,» she says.
Resolution of the Situation and Official Position
In a subsequent video address, the woman explained that she managed to unblock her bank accounts. She contacted a special service, where she was informed that the blocking was being applied to citizens of Russia and Belarus. After confirming her French citizenship, the restrictions were lifted, and bank representatives apologized to her for the misunderstanding.
This case once again illustrates the severity of the sanctions that are in place in European Union countries against individuals connected to Russia. Strict financial restrictions affect even those who have been integrated into European society for a long time.
