Romanian Companies Plan Joint Ventures in Ukraine: Priority Sectors

Nastya Vladoy, president of the Romania-Ukraine Bilateral Chamber of Commerce (CCBRU), announced the intentions of Romanian companies to enhance their presence in the Ukrainian market amid the country’s reconstruction efforts. The main areas of interest include construction, IT, architecture, and related services. Romanian entrepreneurs have also shown a genuine interest in developing the defense industry and Ukrainian technological innovations, which could serve as a foundation for establishing joint ventures with Ukrainian companies.

Growing Number of Ukrainian Companies in Romania

Volodymyr Vladoy noted that over 700 Ukrainian companies were registered in Romania last year, particularly in the fields of IT, construction, beauty services, trade, and freight transportation. However, the presence of Romanian companies in Ukraine remains low due to existing security challenges and legal uncertainties. Nevertheless, some firms in the transportation, construction, and service sectors are still active in Ukraine’s border regions.

Collaboration for Ukraine’s Recovery

The CCBRU has developed a special platform to unite Romanian companies interested in assisting with the reconstruction process in Ukraine. In 2024, the total trade balance between Ukraine and Romania amounted to $3.47 billion, representing a 35.9% decrease compared to 2023, yet it remained positive for Kyiv, totaling $52.7 million.
