Ukrainian serviceman Ruslan Mykhailyuk from Bukovina, who had been missing since May 2025, was found in a hospital in the Sumy region. Throughout this time, his family, friends, and the community held onto hope for his return, not losing faith despite the difficult months of waiting.

Circumstances of the Return and the Soldier’s Condition

It is known that Ruslan Mykhailyuk was admitted to a military hospital with serious injuries: he has been diagnosed with memory loss, partial vision loss, concussions, and other ailments. Currently, the soldier is receiving necessary medical care in the hospital. The Zastavnivka City Council confirmed that he is undergoing treatment for his injuries and illness, but details about how the soldier ended up in the medical facility remain unknown.

“Today we have joyful news that we have all been waiting for so long, especially the family and friends of Mykhailyuk Ruslan Vasylovych. Since May 2025, the Defender had been considered missing. These months have been extremely difficult for his family, friends, and the entire community — we prayed together, supported each other, and did not lose hope. And now — Ruslan has been found. He is currently receiving treatment for his injuries and illness in one of the hospitals in the Sumy region,” the council’s message states.

Community Support and Personal Contact

Community representatives note that they do not have complete information about all the circumstances surrounding the soldier’s disappearance and his stay in the hospital. At the same time, the main news for everyone has been his safe re-establishment of contact. Mykhailo Turok, a community resident, reported that he has already spoken with Ruslan on the phone, although the soldier’s memory has not fully recovered yet.

In addition to this story, it has been reported that two Ukrainian soldiers from the 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade held positions in the Kramatorsk direction for a year. They remained in place to prevent the advance of Russian troops towards Sloviansk. One of the defenders shared that he took up his position in March of last year and only left it in 2026.

It has also been reported that Ukrainian Armed Forces officer Serhiy Misiura, known as “Captain Price,” spoke about a new initiative by border guards to combat “draft dodgers” attempting to illegally leave Ukraine. According to him, drone operators plan to use “drops” to apprehend border violators. This idea was presented by Misiura in a video address on the channel “Army — Media of the Defense Forces of Ukraine” in March 2026.
