Plans for a Joint Burial
According to Simonyan, while they were still alive, the couple discussed plans for their future burial site. They decided that their ashes would be mixed and placed in a special glass sarcophagus on the grounds of their home. Simonyan added that a pine tree was planted on the plot next to the house they built together over five years, and it was under this tree that they planned to be buried together.
“In the house we built for five years, which I am now finishing on my own, we have already settled in. A pine tree has been planted there. And we had long agreed: he was the first to say that I would lie under this pine tree, and you will be next to me. Of course, Tigran, that’s how it will be. Right now, I am building a kind of glass… I don’t know what to call it, a sarcophagus. For now, his ashes are next to me — on the bedside table, and later I will ask for my ashes and his ashes to be mixed and placed in this sarcophagus. And we will be there together under the pine tree,” she explained.
Simonyan emphasized that for her, this is a natural continuation of the agreements with her husband. She sees nothing strange in such a decision and believes that the presence of the urn with his ashes helps her cope with the loss. She also noted that she begins and ends each day with thoughts of her husband.
Keosayan and His Role in Russian Propaganda
Tigran Keosayan was known for his sharp anti-Ukrainian statements and active support for Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. He systematically spread Kremlin narratives, accused Ukrainian military personnel of “Nazism,” justified the war as a struggle against the West, called for the escalation of hostilities, and urged increased strikes on Ukrainian cities. Additionally, there is information that during the time Keosayan was in a coma, the family learned about the incurable illness of Simonyan’s child.
