Increase in Pensions for Families of Fallen Soldiers in March 2026

Who Received Increased Pension Payments

The increase primarily affects the non-working members of the families of fallen defenders of Ukraine. A new elevated minimum level of pension provision has been established for this category of citizens.

Increased payments will be received by:

  • parents of servicemen who died while performing their official duties;
  • the husband or wife of the deceased;
  • children who have lost their breadwinner.

Each member of such families is guaranteed a minimum pension of 12,810 hryvnias. For comparison, in 2025, this figure was approximately 8,000 hryvnias.

Payment Amounts for Multiple Family Members

A separate procedure has been established for cases where social payments or pensions are assigned to several family members at once. In such cases, each will receive no less than 10,020 hryvnias per month.

“The Pension Fund of Ukraine also noted that starting in 2027, these payments will be subject to annual indexing. This means that their amount will be regularly reviewed in light of the economic situation”.

In 2025, the amount of such payments was approximately 6,100 hryvnias per person. Thus, the new measures aim to significantly strengthen the social protection of families of fallen soldiers.

Procedure for Applying for Increased Payments

For those already receiving the relevant pension, the increase will occur automatically—no additional applications are required. At the same time, citizens applying for payments for the first time need to gather a standard set of documents:

  • application for pension appointment in case of loss of breadwinner;
  • passport of a citizen of Ukraine and identification code;
  • documents confirming family ties;
  • death certificate of the serviceman;
  • certificates from the military unit regarding the circumstances of the death;
  • confirmation of being dependent on the deceased;
  • bank details for pension transfer.

If the death occurred due to combat injuries or concussion, an investigation report is additionally required.

The document package can be submitted in person, through electronic services, or by contacting the Administrative Services Center.

The increase in social payments is part of the state’s comprehensive policy to support families of fallen defenders. In wartime, such decisions not only enhance financial support but also contribute to ensuring a decent standard of living for families who have lost their loved ones.
