The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) together with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) announced the establishment of an expert team to conduct a comprehensive study on the possibilities of involving the private sector in the management and maintenance of airports in Ukraine.

Representatives of the ministry noted:
“We view the private sector as one of the key participants in the reconstruction processes. At the same time, investment processes vary across different sectors. To determine the optimal ways to attract such financing, it is necessary to thoroughly study the opportunities and specifics of each individual sector. Additionally, attracting private investments will significantly reduce the burden on the state budget during the war, which is undoubtedly a positive factor.”
The results of this study are expected to be available to Ukraine by August of this year. The study will focus on airports such as Boryspil, Odesa, Lviv, and others. The main goal of the research is to identify ways to attract private investments to ensure:
- reduction of the need for direct budget financing of airports;
- maintenance of airport infrastructure in operational condition;
- readiness of airports for a quick resumption of air connections after the war.
