Starting from the first quarter of 2026, Ukrainian drivers will have the opportunity to independently document minor traffic accidents without involving the police through the Diia app. This government initiative aims to implement a simplified procedure for processing European protocols in digital format.

How the new feature in Diia will work
Thanks to the update, drivers will no longer need to gather documents or contact the police to document an accident. All necessary data — information about driver’s documents, the technical passport, and insurance — will be automatically retrieved from state registries within the app.
After an accident, it will be sufficient to take a few photos from the scene, agree on the information with the other participant in the accident, and sign the document using the Diia.Signature tool. The status of the processed event can be tracked directly in the app, eliminating the need to personally contact the insurance company or make additional trips.
Benefits for drivers and insurers
According to Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, the digitization of the process for documenting minor accidents will help avoid errors that previously could lead to refusals of insurance payouts. The new service will also reduce the burden on the police and simplify the resolution of incidents on the road.
“Starting from the first quarter of 2026, drivers will be able to document accidents without calling the police and without any paperwork — right at the scene of the incident,” Svyrydenko noted.
With the introduction of this feature, drivers will receive decisions regarding insurance cases more quickly, and the process itself will become more transparent and accessible for everyone.
