A working group has been established in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine aimed at addressing the current issues faced by enterprises in the mining industry. The main challenges confronting the sector include a shortage of electricity and high prices for it.

Composition of the Working Group and Participants
The newly formed working group includes representatives from key government bodies. In particular, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the Ministry of Justice, the National Bank of Ukraine, and the State Tax Service have joined the discussion on ways to overcome the crisis phenomena in the industry. Additionally, representatives from the National Association of Mining Industry of Ukraine, PJSC “Poltava Mining and Processing Plant,” LLC “Yuristivskyi Mining and Processing Plant,” and other relevant enterprises are participating in the working group.
Main Issues to Address
During the first meeting of the group, key problems affecting the stable operation of mining enterprises were discussed. Special attention was given to the issue of ensuring sufficient electricity supply for enterprises, the possibilities for increasing its supply, and adjusting the pricing policy for electricity. Participants also examined the situation regarding the industry’s foreign currency earnings, specifically the reasons for their non-repatriation to Ukraine, as well as the ownership structure of enterprises and possible paths for restructuring.
“Among the issues being considered are access to electricity for enterprises (supply volumes and possibilities for increasing them, electricity prices), the issue of foreign currency earnings and the reasons for their non-repatriation to Ukraine, the ownership structure of enterprises, and possible options for restructuring.”
It is planned that the activities of the working group will contribute to the development of effective solutions for stabilizing the operations of the domestic mining industry and its further development.
