What is the Environmental Tax and Who Pays It
The environmental tax in Ukraine is paid by companies and enterprises that emit pollutants into the atmosphere, discharge wastewater into water bodies, engage in waste disposal or placement, and work with radioactive materials. The funds obtained from this tax are directed towards financing measures for air and water purification, waste disposal, and environmental conservation.
“These funds finance measures for air and water purification, waste disposal, and nature conservation. The increase in revenues indicates that businesses are becoming increasingly responsible regarding environmental issues,” the statement notes.
During martial law, enterprises located in areas of hostilities or temporarily occupied territories are temporarily exempt from paying the environmental tax. The list of such territories is determined by the Ministry of Development in accordance with the approved procedure.
