New Requirements for Traditional and Online Trade
Bill No. 12426 provides for the improvement of the market surveillance and technical regulation system in accordance with European requirements. From now on, inspections and quality control will be the same for products in regular stores as well as for those sold on online platforms. This means that marketplaces will be subject to the same oversight as physical retail outlets.
“Inspections and control will be the same for products in traditional stores and for those sold through online platforms – marketplaces will be under the same supervision.”
Benefits for Consumers and Businesses
The implementation of new rules will allow the state to respond promptly to consumer complaints and strengthen the protection of their rights to safe and quality products. For entrepreneurs, this creates a level playing field for competition and opens up additional opportunities to enter EU markets.
The adopted law is also part of Ukraine’s preparation for signing the Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products (ACAA) with the European Union. This step is important for further integrating Ukraine into the single European market and expanding the country’s economic opportunities. It is expected to enhance trust in the Ukrainian quality control system and ensure the free circulation of Ukrainian goods in EU countries.
In addition, the parliament previously made decisions that will allow Ukraine to join the funding under the Ukraine Facility program from the European Union.
