A New Level of Safe Hydrogen Storage

In December 2025, the parties signed a memorandum of understanding that outlines their collaboration in creating innovative solutions for hydrogen storage, as well as carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies. Vallourec and Geostock have complementary offerings: Vallourec’s Delphy system provides safe storage for up to 100 tons of hydrogen, while Geostock’s rock storage facilities are suitable for large volumes exceeding 500 tons.

“Together, Vallourec and Geostock can meet all the storage needs for ‘green’ hydrogen in the value chain,” the press release states.

Synergy in Designing and Implementing Solutions

The partnership involves sharing expertise, research results, and technical developments to enhance the design of wells suitable for the challenging conditions of underground hydrogen storage and carbon injection. In particular, Geostock’s expertise in subsurface development will support clients during the implementation of Vallourec’s Delphy system and the execution of related engineering works.

This initiative is part of Vallourec’s broader strategy to expand partnerships with leading players and experts in the new energy sector, aimed at implementing safe solutions for the development of the hydrogen economy and decarbonization.
