The Contribution of Ukrainians to the Czech Economy is Growing

The Czech government’s spending on humanitarian aid, housing, healthcare, education, and other support for Ukrainian refugees in 2025 amounted to 7.6 billion crowns (312 million euros). Thus, the financial balance has significantly shifted in favor of the budget.

The dynamics of financial participation by Ukrainian refugees in the Czech Republic in previous years are as follows:

  • 2023: state spending on aid for Ukrainians was 22 billion crowns (904 million euros), while budget revenues were 19.4 billion crowns (797 million euros);
  • 2024: revenues from Ukrainian refugees increased to 24.8 billion crowns (986 million euros), while expenditures decreased to 15.5 billion crowns (540 million euros).

Ukrainians in the Labor Market and Their Impact on the Economy

The Czech Minister of Labor, Marian Jurečka, reported that as of September 2025, there are 169,000 Ukrainian refugees with temporary protection status working in the country. The total number of Ukrainians with this status in the Czech Republic has reached 393,843 individuals.

“The mass departure of Ukrainians could cause serious problems for the economy, particularly for industry, the service sector, and agriculture,” emphasized Marian Jurečka.

The Czech government stresses that those politicians calling for Ukrainian refugees to return home risk the economic development and well-being of Czech citizens. All this data indicates the strong positive impact of Ukrainians on the financial stability and labor market of the country.
