Ukrainian Defense Forces Strike Russian Oil Platforms in the Caspian Sea

On the night of April 10, Ukrainian defense forces struck two oil platforms on the shelf of the Caspian Sea owned by the Russian Federation. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces, these actions are aimed at reducing Russia’s military-economic potential.

Details of the Strike on the Oil Installations

Preliminary information indicates that the ice-resistant stationary platform (LSP-2) at the V. Graifer field (formerly known as Rakushchene) and LSP-1 at the Yuri Korchagin field were hit. Both platforms are located in the northern Caspian Sea, approximately one thousand kilometers from the active combat zone.

The General Staff emphasizes the importance of these oil platforms for supplying Russian troops with fuel and lubricants. Their destruction may impact logistics and resource supply for the Russian army.

“The Ukrainian defense forces will continue to strike important enemy targets until the complete cessation of armed aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine,” the statement reads.

Russia’s Reaction and the Situation with Other Facilities

The official authorities of the Russian Federation have not commented on the strikes against the oil platforms in the Caspian Sea. The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed to have allegedly shot down 151 Ukrainian drones on the night of April 10, but this information cannot be independently verified.

Earlier, on April 6, the commander of the Ukrainian Drone Forces, Robert Brovdi (call sign “Madyar”), reported the destruction of the drilling rig “Sivash” in the Black Sea. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Russia has been recording regular strikes on various strategic facilities within its territory. The Ukrainian General Staff has repeatedly emphasized that such operations are aimed at systematically reducing the combat potential of Russian occupation forces and forcing Russia to cease its aggression against Ukraine.
