Military Officials Emphasize Lack of Success for Russians

“The enemy has not carried out any actions that could be called breakthroughs or attempts to encircle the city. There are no grounds to speak about this. Wherever the Russians have attempted assault actions in the area of responsibility of the ‘Kursk’ grouping, they have received and continue to receive a worthy rebuff, without any successes”

The military command urges the population to trust only official information from the Defense Forces and to carefully verify information coming from unverified sources. The spread of rumors and unfounded claims regarding the danger to Sumy, as noted by the headquarters, may contribute to destabilization and cause panic among the civilian population.

Comments from Official Representatives and the Situation at the Front

Victor Trehubov, head of the communications department of the Joint Forces Group, stated that claims about the threat of encirclement of Sumy are not true. According to him, Russian troops are currently located at a significant distance from the city, their presence in the border areas is minimal, and the possibility of advancing on Sumy from the east is excluded.

Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation, added that there is indeed infiltration of Russian forces in the border areas of Sumy region; however, there are currently no grounds to speak of a breakthrough by the enemy into the depths of the region. He emphasized that Ukrainian defense forces are making every effort to prevent the expansion of the Russian presence, while the latter are suffering significant losses.

Analysts from the DeepState project previously reported that Russian troops have advanced about 10 kilometers east of Sumy in the area of the settlements of Myropilske, Mariyne, and Novodmytrivka. However, the situation remains under the control of the Ukrainian army, which is effectively holding back the enemy’s offensive actions.
