Ukraine Maintains Fourth Place Among Agricultural Product Suppliers to the EU Despite Export Decline

From January to July 2025, Ukraine exported agricultural products worth $5.73 billion to European Union countries. This is a 13% decrease compared to the same period last year. Despite the reduction in supply volumes, Ukraine retained its fourth position among key agricultural product suppliers to the EU.

Dynamics of Agricultural Exports and Imports

The total import of agricultural products to EU countries during this period reached $96.8 billion, which is 16% higher than last year’s figure. At the same time, the export of agricultural products from the EU amounted to $118.7 billion, increasing by 2%. Additionally, agricultural products worth $2.1 billion were supplied to Ukraine from the European Union, which is 17% more compared to last year.

Situation with Grain Exports

As of early October 2025, since the beginning of the new marketing year, Ukraine has exported 6.56 million tons of grains and legumes. Last year, during the same period, this figure was 10.3 million tons. In the current season, exporters have already managed to ship 4.7 million tons of wheat and 913 thousand tons of corn.

In September, Ukraine exported 3.7 million tons of agro-industrial products, which is 6.5% less than in August. Compared to September 2024, the export reduction is 25%.

The reasons for the slowdown in shipments include delays in the harvest collection pace and the introduction of export duties on soybeans and rapeseed. However, an increase in product exports is expected in October.
