The number of Ukrainian citizens who left the country during the one and a half months of autumn 2025 equaled the emigration figures for the previous nine months. According to recent estimates, nearly 6 million Ukrainians are currently abroad.

Migration Dynamics for October-November
According to UN data, as of November 14, 2025, the number of migrants from Ukraine reached 5.9 million people. From October 3 to November 14 alone, this figure increased by 128,000 individuals. This growth is actually comparable to the number of people who left the country during the entire period from January to September 2025, when 166,000 citizens emigrated.
“According to the UN, the number of migrants outside Ukraine was 5.9 million as of November 14, 2025. Since the last update (October 3), the increase has been 128,000 individuals, which is comparable to the increase from January to September (166,000),” the document states.
Reasons for the Increase in Emigration
Experts from the National Bank of Ukraine believe that the sharp increase in the number of migrants may be due to several factors. In particular, intensified attacks by Russia on civilian infrastructure have forced many residents to leave their homes in search of safety. Another important factor was the decision to allow men aged 18 to 22 to leave the country, which significantly impacted the overall departure statistics.
Thus, the autumn period of 2025 turned out to be critical for the demographic situation in Ukraine, as this time saw a record increase in the number of emigrants over the past year.
