In Ukraine, there has been a sharp increase in prices for early white cabbage over the past few days. This trend is primarily due to seasonal supply characteristics in the market.

Seasonal Shortage and Price Increase
As producers explain, the main reason for the price hike is the change of seasons: stocks of early cabbage varieties have nearly been depleted, while later varieties have not yet ripened for mass harvesting. As a result, a shortage has formed in the market, which has immediately affected the price of the product.
Currently, the price of white cabbage ranges from 10 to 20 hryvnias per kilogram. Compared to the end of last week, the average increase has been about 29%. However, the demand for fresh cabbage remains consistently high, which further stimulates price growth.
This Year’s Prices and Future Price Prospects
According to market data, in June 2025, the price of the new cabbage harvest is nearly three times higher than the price for the same period last year — currently, the difference reaches 2.9 times.
“There is less cabbage in the market precisely due to the interseason. One harvesting period has ended, and the next has not yet begun. At the same time, demand remains active. This further heats up the price situation.”
At the same time, sellers do not rule out that prices may decrease in the near future. As soon as the mid-season cabbage varieties start arriving in large quantities, a potential decrease in product prices is likely.
