Tata Steel Nederland has announced the launch of a new production line for packaging steel intended for the food industry, which already meets the planned European standards regarding chemical use and environmental requirements.

Implementation of Innovative TCCT Technology
A key feature of the new line is the application of TCCT (Trivalent Chromium Coating Technology) — a modern method for coating steel sheets that significantly reduces environmental impact. Thanks to this development, the company is already compliant with the future stringent requirements of European regulations, particularly under the REACH standard for the safe use of chemicals.
“TSN is the exclusive developer and patent holder of the TCCT technology. The company not only implements it in its own production but also offers it to other European steel manufacturers, effectively setting a new standard for the packaging steel market in Europe.”
Advantages of Centralized Production and Protact Solutions
The new production complex consolidates all stages of manufacturing at one location, significantly simplifying logistics and shortening supply chains. Combined with the Protact solution — polymer-coated packaging steel — TCCT technology ensures the highest level of compliance with food safety standards. Additional coating of the material is no longer necessary, allowing customers to reduce costs, minimize chemical usage, and optimize production processes.
According to Arne Hoogerworst, head of the Packaging division at Tata Steel Nederland, the new technology enhances workplace safety, minimizes environmental risks, and promotes the implementation of more efficient and sustainable solutions for customers.
