A loud conflict has arisen in Odesa involving employees of the Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC) and a mobilized man. Relatives of the mobilized individual claim he was brutally beaten and unlawfully detained, while representatives of the TRC insist that the man inflicted the injuries on himself.

Family’s Version of the Incident

According to the relatives, the incident occurred while the man was walking his dog. They assert that TRC employees forcibly shoved him into a service bus, using tear gas. Inside the recruitment center, the family claims a conflict arose when the man refused to sign documents, after which he was beaten. Relatives emphasize that he was struck on the head with a pistol, resulting in severe bleeding.

Detained Man

After the incident, the man was hospitalized at a district hospital. Relatives reported that the next morning, a notification group attempted to take him from the medical facility again, but doctors refused due to the patient’s serious condition. They also noted that the dog was left tied up near the TRC.

TRC’s Position and Internal Investigation

The Odesa Regional TRC confirmed the fact of the detention, explaining that during a document check, it was discovered that the man was wanted. At the same time, the military categorically denies the beating. They claim that the aggression was exhibited by the detained individual, and he inflicted the injuries on himself.

“Upon arrival at the designated location, the citizen suddenly began to exhibit unprovoked aggression and engage in destructive actions, as a result of which he intentionally inflicted bodily harm on himself,” the TRC’s statement reads.

The military noted that they took into account the man’s unstable psycho-emotional state and head injury, provided him with first aid, and called an ambulance. The man was hospitalized under medical supervision at a specialized facility.

Regarding the dog, the TRC assured that the animal was not abandoned, but was fed and was handed over to the owner’s relatives the following day.

An internal investigation has now been initiated at the regional recruitment center. Its purpose is to legally assess the actions of all participants in the incident and determine whether the military personnel adhered to legislation and service instructions during the detention.
