Scale of Shelling and Impact on Civilians

According to the official, over the course of a day, Russian troops carried out about ten attacks across three districts of the region. In particular, in the Kryvyi Rih district, enterprises in the district center and in the city of Apostolove were damaged. The Pokrovsk community in the Synelnykove district suffered the most: two private houses were destroyed, and four more homes were partially destroyed. As a result of the shelling, rescuers found the body of a 55-year-old man under the rubble.

“In Synelnykove, the Russians attacked the Pokrovsk community. Two private houses were destroyed, and four more were damaged. Unfortunately, a 55-year-old man has died. His body was retrieved by rescuers from under the rubble of one of the damaged homes.”

Additionally, in the Nikopol district, a five-story residential building was damaged due to Russian shelling.

Targeted Strikes on Civilian Infrastructure

On the evening before, it became known that three people were injured as a result of attacks in the region. Among the injured are two women aged 40 and 42 from the Nikopol district, one of whom is in serious condition, as well as a 66-year-old man from the Synelnykove district.

Russian military forces continue to strike Ukrainian cities using a variety of weapons: strike drones, missiles, aerial bombs, and multiple launch rocket systems. Not only residential areas are under fire, but also energy, water supply facilities, and healthcare institutions. Such actions, which are systematic and targeted, are classified by Ukrainian authorities and international organizations as war crimes of the Russian Federation.

Human rights defenders and genocide researchers emphasize that shelling of life-support systems, depriving people of access to electricity, heat, communication, and medical assistance, exhibit signs of genocidal actions. The leadership of Russia has repeatedly publicly declared intentions to destroy Ukrainians as a nation while denying strikes on civilian infrastructure.

According to the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (adopted in 1948), genocide is recognized as actions aimed at the destruction of a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group, including mass killings, creating unbearable living conditions, deportation of children, and public incitement to violence.

Since the beginning of the full-scale aggression on February 24, 2022, thousands of Ukrainian families have lost their homes and loved ones. The war has been ongoing for over four years, claiming new lives daily and destroying cities and villages across Ukraine.
