Russian troops are suffering significant losses, yet they do not abandon their intentions to seize Ukraine. This was reported by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, who emphasized that with the change in weather conditions in March, Russia has intensified its offensive along almost the entire line of combat engagement, which stretches for 1200 km.

Hottest Directions and Active Defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
According to Syrskyi, during the month, the most intense fighting was observed in the Oleksandrivsk, Pokrovsk, Kostiantynivka, and Lyman directions. Ukrainian troops are currently conducting active defense to regain the strategic initiative.
“As a result, in March, our forces regained control over nearly 50 sq. km of territory that had been occupied by the enemy. We counter the quantity of Russian forces with the quality of Ukrainian combat operations, forcing the enemy to play by our rules and constantly delaying the timelines for completing their tasks.”
Ukrainian Strikes on Russian Territory and the Situation on the Front
As of the end of March, Ukrainian long-range strikes hit 76 targets in Russia, of which 15 belong to the oil refining industry. On April 1, Syrskyi emphasized that the Pokrovsk direction remains the hottest along the entire active front. According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) as of April 6, Ukrainian counterattacks in the Huliaipole and Oleksandrivsk directions complicated Russia’s offensive plans in the Pokrovsk direction and generally affected the enemy’s spring-summer offensive actions.
