Step-by-step instructions for clients in case of disruptions

PrivatBank notes that power interruptions often lead to technical failures that can affect transactions at ATMs and self-service terminals. In this regard, the bank recommends following the next course of action if difficulties arise with depositing or withdrawing funds:

  1. Contact customer support at 3700 or via the online chat in the “Privat24” app.
  2. If immediate contact is not possible, take a photo of the ATM number and address to submit a request later.
  3. In the request, specify which card the funds were withdrawn from, the amount, location, and approximate time of the transaction.
  4. If the card is left in the ATM, it should be blocked and a reissue requested in “Privat24” or at a bank branch.

Refunds: bank actions and timelines

After processing the request, the funds are returned to the card from which they were debited. The bank will notify about the crediting additionally. Clients can independently track the status of their request in the “Privat24” app.

“We are doing everything possible to minimize the impact of outages and are committed to returning funds as quickly as possible. Sometimes time is needed for cash collection, but we monitor every request. We are here and doing everything we can to support our clients during this time”.

The duration of the refund depends on the situation: cash collection from ATMs usually occurs at least once a week, so money is returned within a few days. If the transaction was made through another bank’s ATM, the process may take 5–30 days or more, sometimes up to 180 days.

  • To minimize risks, it is recommended not to conduct transactions through unfamiliar ATMs;
  • withdraw funds from the issuing bank’s ATMs located indoors;
  • avoid withdrawing large amounts in a single transaction.
