Consequences of the Strike on Kyiv’s Energy System
Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Mykola Kolisnyk reported that during the night, Russian forces carried out over 240 attacks with kamikaze drones and launched 36 missiles of various types. As a result, significant damage was inflicted on substations, overhead power lines, and generation facilities.
“Over 500,000 consumers in Kyiv and the Kyiv region found themselves without electricity. Meanwhile, the city of Slavutych is completely de-energized.”
As a result of the shelling, emergency power outages were introduced on the left bank of Kyiv and parts of the Kyiv region. On the right bank of the capital, hourly outage schedules continue to be in effect.
Restoration of Electricity Supply in the Regions
In Dnipropetrovsk region, energy workers managed to restore electricity supply to over one million consumers who had been left without power after previous attacks by the Russian Federation. At the same time, over 34,000 subscribers in the region remain without electricity for now. In Zaporizhzhia, repair work has been completed, and electricity supply has been restored in all areas of the city.
It is also noted that more than a thousand settlements in various regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv and Chernihiv regions, remain without electricity due to adverse weather conditions rather than shelling. Restoration work on electricity supply in these areas is ongoing.
Throughout the day, energy workers plan to return to hourly outage schedules in most regions, except for the left bank part of the Kyiv region, where the situation remains the most challenging.
