Onur Group Expands Investments in Graphite, Construction Materials, and Energy in Ukraine

Золото, будівельні матеріали, енергетика: куди інвестує та чим займається турецька Onur Group в Україні?

The Turkish company Onur Group has decided to abandon the development of the Zhovtovodsk gold mining area in the Dnipropetrovsk region due to the low potential of the deposit. Initially, the company planned to extract about 4.5 grams of gold per ton of ore, but the actual extraction amounted to only 1.4 grams per ton. Due to this discrepancy, Onur Group’s subsidiary filed a lawsuit against the State Geological Service in 2021, seeking compensation. However, in April 2025, the company withdrew the lawsuit, opting for a path of “constructive dialogue” with the state authority.

“The company expected to receive about 4.5 grams of gold per ton of ore, but the actual figures amounted to only 1.4 grams per ton.”

Investments in Graphite Projects and Construction Materials

Onur Group’s main hopes are currently tied to the development of a graphite deposit in the Khmelnytskyi region. The start of industrial extraction here is planned for 2026.

During the war, the Ukrainian division of the corporation actively invested in the modernization of its own production facilities. Over $35 million was directed towards the development of the construction materials sector. Of this amount, about $15 million was invested in the ACTU dry construction mixtures plant. This allowed for an increase in the product range to 12 types, and in the future, there are plans to expand the assortment to 50 items.

Growth in Investments in Green Energy and International Contracts

Another strategic direction for Onur Group Ukraine has become green energy. Investments in this sector are expected to rise to $450 million by 2030, although the initial plan was to invest $260 million.

In addition to domestic projects, the holding won a tender for the construction of a high-speed highway in Romania worth 600 million euros. To implement this contract, equipment and personnel from the company’s Ukrainian division will be involved.
