NBU Fines Crédit Agricole Bank and Five Financial Institutions 2.4 Million Hryvnias in March 2026

The National Bank of Ukraine, in March 2026, imposed measures against one bank and five non-bank financial institutions for violations of legislation in the areas of financial monitoring, combating the legalization of income obtained through criminal means, financing terrorism, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and currency legislation. The total amount of fines imposed was nearly 2.4 million hryvnias.

Violations and Amounts of Fines

Crédit Agricole Bank received a fine of 300 thousand hryvnias for failing to comply with the decision of the specially authorized body regarding the suspension of outgoing financial transactions, as well as for actions that led to the termination of the client’s bank account agreement.

Alliance Capital Group LLC was fined 1 million hryvnias for violating the prohibition against refusing clients conducting currency exchange operations with banknotes that fully match the samples and descriptions on the official websites of foreign central banks.

Hertz LLC received a fine of 612 thousand hryvnias for inadequate implementation of a risk-oriented approach in its activities, as well as for failing to fulfill the obligation of proper verification of existing clients.

Tiger Invest LLC was fined 400 thousand hryvnias for non-compliance with the procedure for conducting currency exchange operations.

UFG JSC received a fine of 85 thousand hryvnias for failing to meet the requirements for the identification and registration of financial transactions subject to financial monitoring, as well as for not notifying the specially authorized body about a threshold financial transaction.

The smallest fine, amounting to 1.7 thousand hryvnias, was imposed on UPR LLC for violations of legislation in the field of financial monitoring.

Other Recent NBU Sanctions

“In particular, measures were taken against Crédit Agricole Bank – a fine of 300 thousand hryvnias for failing to fulfill the obligation under the decision of the specially authorized body (SUA) to stop conducting outgoing financial transactions and for actions that resulted in the termination of the client’s bank account agreement.”

Earlier, in October 2025, the National Bank of Ukraine had already imposed sanctions on Alliance Bank amounting to over 83 million hryvnias.
