The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) has announced further revelations in the large-scale ‘Midas’ case, which is linked to corruption schemes in the country’s energy sector. This was reported by the bureau’s director, Semen Kryvonos, during a meeting of the Temporary Investigative Commission of the Verkhovna Rada on economic security issues.

Anti-Corruption Agencies Under Pressure: Investigation Details
The head of NABU noted that anti-corruption agencies are facing pressure due to the investigation, and the delay in releasing new materials is explained by the large volume of evidence collected, which is still being processed by investigators and detectives. During searches and initial investigative actions, digital media, mobile phones, and primary accounting documentation were seized, which are crucial for establishing a complete picture of the criminal activity.
“We have demonstrated part of the recordings related to specific episodes of criminal activity by this criminal organization. We have not stopped, and the issue now is not the publication of individual tapes, but the establishment of all circumstances and the commission of all crimes, including where and from which sectors the funds came into this ‘laundering’ and to whom they were issued,” said Kryvonos.
Investigation Security Issues and New Promises from NABU
Kryvonos stated that NABU is facing obstacles, particularly due to attempts to surveil detectives and the use of loopholes in state registries. According to him, employees of other law enforcement agencies gain access to court rulings regarding searches, which may affect the course of the investigation. The NABU director emphasized the need to close such “gaps” in state systems to ensure the effective operation of the bureau.
Additionally, Kryvonos promised that from now on, information about every attempt to sabotage the investigation in the ‘Midas’ case will be made public so that the public is aware of the situation in the anti-corruption sector.
