The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine is conducting searches at the home of former Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov. According to available information, the investigative actions may be related to a case concerning the procurement of food products for the Armed Forces of Ukraine at inflated prices.

Circumstances of the Searches and Possible Suspicions
Journalists report that during the searches at Reznikov’s residence, law enforcement officials discovered an unofficial phone and seized a number of important documents. No official comments have been received from NABU or the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office at this time. It is known that back in April 2025, NABU stated that Reznikov was not a suspect in the investigation at that time.
Essence of the Procurement and Embezzlement Case
In early April, Ukrainian law enforcement uncovered a scheme involving the embezzlement of over 733 million UAH and an attempt to misappropriate another 788 million UAH in the procurement of food for the army. This concerns the so-called “egg case” where the cost of procured products significantly exceeded market prices. Several participants in the scheme have already been announced as suspects:
- The former head of the Ministry of Defense department, who did not identify price anomalies in the product catalog during the signing of contracts (according to journalists, this is Bohdan Khmelnytskyi);
- The owner of related supply companies, Tetiana Hlyniana (currently abroad);
- Two managers of supplier companies;
- One individual.
“Because the products were supplied in sets, suppliers could manipulate prices on individual components. The cost of the set was formed based on all items in the catalog and constituted their average price. This allowed for inflated prices on popular products, while prices on less frequently used items or those that could not be ordered due to seasonal supply issues were deflated.”
Information about large-scale violations in army procurement first emerged in January 2023. It became known that the Ministry of Defense signed a contract for 13 billion UAH with a company that had a charter capital of only 1,000 UAH. In particular, eggs were purchased at 17 UAH per unit (with a market price of about 7 UAH), and potatoes at 22 UAH per kilogram (retail price was 8-9 UAH).
Following the scandal’s disclosure, the Deputy Minister of Defense resigned. Oleksii Reznikov also stepped down as Minister on September 4 of the same year, and the next day the Verkhovna Rada approved his resignation.
