Mobile Communication and Alarm Signals Unavailable in Zaporizhzhia Due to Mass Power Outages

In the Zaporizhzhia region, a large-scale power outage has occurred due to massive shelling by the Russian Federation, leading to significant disruptions in mobile communication. According to Ivan Fedorov, the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, communication in the region is operating in emergency mode.

Reasons for Communication Limitations and Actions by Operators

Due to damage to the power grid, all mobile communication base stations have been switched to battery power. According to Fedorov, the battery power supply will last for approximately 8 hours. To ensure stable network operation in the future, mobile operators are rapidly deploying generators in collaboration with local authorities to connect to the base stations.

“All base stations are being switched to battery power – this resource will last for about 8 hours. At the same time, operators are deploying generators together with local government bodies to maintain communication going forward,” he wrote.

Recommendations for Residents and Warnings About Alarms

The head of the OVA urged residents of the region to limit the use of mobile communication as much as possible unless absolutely necessary. If possible, it is recommended to switch to national roaming, use GPON, and internet messengers for communication. Due to increased network load, temporary deterioration in communication quality may occur.

Fedorov also emphasized that due to the lack of electricity, air raid alert systems are not functioning. In case of danger, local residents will be informed through loudspeakers by patrol police crews.
